WHAT IS #GIVINGTUESDAY?
#GivingTuesday™ (#GT or #GivingTuesday) is a movement to create a national day of giving to kick off the giving season. It occurs on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
On this day I am choosing to donate money to the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation. Every year for the holidays I alternate a gift to the CF Foundation or JDRF. The reason why I donate to these two charities is because it hits close to home for me. My goddaughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 14 months and she also has CF along with her brother.
To give a gift that gives back I like to donate money in their name for the holidays and for their birthday.
I don’t have a lot of disposable income to donate money to charities, but ever little bit counts. What cause or charity hits close to home for you? If you can’t afford to give money, then donate some time to that cause or organization. It is about making a difference and if it is giving money, time or items — it ALL counts!
Thank you for giving!
